Atypical is a hard rock and alternative metal band from Kansas City, blending soaring vocals, heavy riffs, and raw emotion into a sound that's both powerful and deeply relatable. The lineup of Rachel Cartwright (lead vocals), Trevor Cartwright (vocals & bass), Trevor Chowning (lead guitar), Drake Ogle (rhythm guitar), and Robbie Pointer (drums) first came together in June 2021 when a casual jam session at Robbie's birthday party sparked an undeniable chemistry. What started as a spontaneous night of music quickly grew into something much bigger.

Since then, Atypical has built a reputation for high-energy live shows and emotionally driven songwriting, sharing stages with national acts including Red, Adelitas Way, Icon For Hire, Kingdom Collapse, and others. Their music is connecting with fans around the world: Prove You Wrong has surpassed 260,000 streams and reached #1 on the Luxembourg iTunes Metal chart, The Ones charted at #2 in Luxembourg, and their releases have landed in the Top 5 in Portugal, Spain, and South Africa. With over half a million total Spotify streams and fans tuning in from across the globe, Atypical's sound knows no borders.

Recognized as one of Missouri's Top 5 Rock Bands in both 2022 and 2023, Atypical is charging into their most prolific season yet. Their latest single Above the Hate, co-written and produced by Jonathan Norris of Kingdom Collapse, is out March 20th and is just the first of many new singles on the way. With more fresh music dropping throughout the year, the band is pushing toward bigger stages and louder crowds. They're just getting started.
